The house was ocean front, up towards the northern end of the Barrier Islands. It was up in four wheel drive territory, past where the main road which ran up and down the Banks stopped; which was why Wilson had rented a Jeep Wrangler from the realty company ( Read more... )

The sound of the ocean awoke him, and he thought he was home again.

He smiled slightly, turning over on the vast bed to press his nose back against the pillow, breathing in the scent of his lover ... and then he blinked. Wait. There was no way that he had accidently taken James home with him to Australia.

He smiled again. Well, one day he would. Today, however ...today he was in the Banks.

He sat up then, breathing in the salty fresh smell of the water, and if he listened hard enough, he could hear the nickering of the ponies. God, the ponies. Seeing them running free reminded him of the wild horses running the plains back home. He'd never seen anything so peaceful and beautiful. Well, except for his lover at that moment ( ... )

Wilson looked over as he was joined on the upper deck and he closed his eyes contentedly when Chase leaned in for that kiss.

“Mmm, kisses from the pretty man, now my morning is complete.” Peeking up at Chase through his lashes his breath caught at the way the morning sun flashed through the rich highlights in his lover’s hair, making it seem an even more intense golden blonde than he’d seen before.

I bet it really lightens up if he gets a chance to be outside and active during the summer.

“Sleep well, love?” It was a playful question. He knew they’d both slept like exhausted logs once they’d gone down for the night.

The sun was starting to rise a little higher in the sky, it’s rays soft and warm as they cast across bare skin, the breeze coming off the ocean rich with crisp scent of the salt water and the unique flavor of the beach itself. Out on the water, the trail of orange red fire cast by the rising sun, twinkled on the waves.

It was quiet and peaceful yet amazing alive and vibrant.

"Well, here's another one, just to cover us until noon." Chase leaned in again, sealing those warm and inviting lips in another kiss, before pulling away to look into dark eyes, smiling broadly. The circles under James's eyes were less today - he was smiling and he looked peaceful.

Good. This is the way he should always look...

"Slept like a baby. A baby with a very, very comfortable pillow." He wiggled his eyebrows wickedly before he bit down into his apple. He chewed, swallowed, looking out to the glorious sunrise before them. "God, this is really ...this is glorious, James." He smiled. "This is just what we needed."

“If you think that is going to cover us till noon, you are sorely mistaken Doctor Chase.” Wilson replied with a playful growl as the younger man retreated back to his own chair. “I plan on kissing you, a lot over the next few days.” And that was a promise. Laying in bed, Chase pillowed against his chest, no alarm set and no need to be anyone other then James and Robert had started to work it’s singular magic on him the night before.

The oncologist sat back with his coffee, looking out at the water and then back over at Chase when his lover spoke, a slow…intensely happy smile spreading his lips.

“I’m glad you like it, Rob.” He’d been a little afraid that Robert, with his extensive history of travel and the beauty of Australia as his birthright would find the Banks, mundane. For Wilson the Barrier Islands had always been a magical place, bringing a certain serenity to him that he didn’t completely understand but which he ached for at times.

It was a peaceful serenity, a soul rejuvenating energy he hoped to share with Robert.
