Five o'clock in the morning. The crisp, winter wind licked at Jamie's face as she jogged against it down the cobblestone paths of Painswick University. It was still dark, and nearly every student was tucked away in their bed; perfect jogging time. No one could bother her while she trained ( Read more... )

When Travis couldn't sleep he liked to walk around the empty campus. The cool night, or in this case early morning, air helped clear his head. He had been up all night doing everything he could think of - he even studied at one point. Though, nothing helped.

He usually never ran into anybody but today Travis wasn't alone. He walked towards the figure hoping he wasn't running into a drunken slacker in need of help. That would be just his luck.

Jamie came to a complete stop, hands on her hips as she worked to control her breaths. She studies the boy; his face, his eyes, his hair, but no one came to mind.

Not that she really knew anyone aside from the Quidditch team.

"It's it--" Jamie reached up to tighten her ever-present high ponytail, "--a little early to be out?"

"Er...yeah...sorry," Travis said, walking up towards the girl. "I couldn't sleep."

He suddenly realized the way this could look. There was nobody else around and no reason for either of them to be out at this time. Before getting too close, Travis stopped. They were a few meters away from each other.

"I'm Travis," he offered.

Jamie didn't offer him any sort of smile-- not because she was mean, but because her serious nature didn't usually allow it. She gave him a nod, "Jamie."

She glanced over her shoulder, blond hair licking the back of her neck as she did. They were alone, not even the sound of crickets to keep them company. A different girl of the same small stature might've felt the fear building in her chest, but not Jamie.

She knew she could take him.

"So do you always wander aimlessly when you're up?"
