Yeah! A bit late, but better than never. Now time for some predictions. And looking back at my list of
dramas of interest for 2013, how did that work out?
Parts 1 is
here and 2 is
here.
I'm gonna to a very quick run by of the top 2013 dramas I watched. I feel like I already talked enough about these babies.
This will be the last post I make until I feel like posting again.
BEST OF 2013
The End of the World - This had me on the edge of a knife sometimes, waiting to watch the next episode.I thought the romance bits were unnecessary and editing was choppy in the latter episodes as the drama had some episodes cut, but really this is in a class of its own. I don't want to spoil major plot points, but I found so many things about it interesting. It really deserved 20 episodes or more, rather then being shortened due to poor ratings.
Cheondang-dom Alice - Starting from a rather unusual perspective of an anti-Candy, this was a neat look at some of the class differences that existence in Korean society today between the working poor, middle class and the wealthy. The OTP could have had better chemistry, some of the acting was overblown, but nevertheless a solid drama from beginning to end.
That Winter, the Wind Blows - Beautiful, gorgeous, breathtaking... name it. Not just the scenery, or the music, but Song Hong Kyo as well. Unfortunately, this trailed off into a rather lame finale, still it's a lovely romance if you can get past the rather dubious plot as the leads had great chemistry.
Resurrection - This is really all about one man, Uhm Tae Woong, and that's the best and the worst of itt. The best because he gave such a compelling performance, he forced me to watch, but unfortunately, he was the best part. I thought the drama rather laggy (could have been 16 episodes easily instead of 24), the romance was lame.
Raeng Pratana - cute, sweet. This wasn't perhaps the best drama out there, but I really liked the main couple of Nadech and Kim.
Meitantei no Otike - A rather clever deconstruction of mystery dramas, and humorous too, if only the mysteries themselves were more compelling, likable leads but no romance, pout.
Hard Nut - I just finished watching this and the main characters, 2 of my favs. Cuties.
Honorable Mentions: Master's Sun, Humsafar, It Started With a Kiss ~ Tokyo Edition.
Dramas of Interest in 2014 - link to 2013 list
here. I did a pretty good job with last year's list, the top drama I was looking forward to, That Winter, The Wind Blows, I watched and liked, as well as Raeng Pratana. I also liked the Hong Sister's drama this year, thank goodness for Master's Sun. Didn't bother to watch several and thought twdrama Fabulous Boys was just okay, as well as Ken's drama, Marjurat See Nam Pueng.
1. Tik and Ann's drama Ye Leum Chan just finished filming and I'm missing me some Ann. I wanna watch more Ann this year, if I have to go to her older lakorns to do so. But I'll most likely give this one a shot.
2. It Started With a Kiss 2~ Tokyo Edition should be out and I want to watch. i know it won't have the massive amount of kisses and make out scenes They Kiss Again had, but looking forward to seeing their love develop and grow.
3. This year in lakorns, the Suparburoot Jutathep series was a big hit, in 2014 there's another series coming, Mafia Luerd Mungkorn. I'm looking forward to this, it has big names like Ananda, Tik, Ken.and should have more angst then the Suparburoot series.
4. Bu Bu Jing Qing - honestly, I don't know about this one, I don't have high hopes, but I do plan to watch it. I watched most of BBJX and liked them as a couple, so I want to see more of them.
5. This year, I hope to find more twdramas and lakorns to watch, but I don't want to force it, so no challenges for me this year.
6. Who knows? Lots of dramas I might take an interest in. This is the empty space for a drama I have yet to hear of.
7. I expect to watch a number of dramas I didn't in 2013, like Heartless City, The Chaser, Bad Family, Prince of Lan Ling, You Who Came From the Stars and so on.
