What's the difference between "dating" and "seeing eachother"?

dating is used to imply the early stages of a relationship, when you're getting to know each other and testing the water. A "date" would constitute of going to see a movie or getting lunch or dinner with someone you've recently initiated something with.
Seeing each other is when you're past that, and you're just a couple; comfortable enough with each other that you don't feel you need to surround yourself with other people in order to have a good time.

I like that. I've always thought that "dating" was too limited a term for a pre-serious relationship, let alone a word that could encompass a serious relationship as well....
