I sat by the window in the hotel bedroom of a friend. She let me spend a weekend there for twenty dollars when I had scarcely any money to my name. The hotel was hosting a retreat for followers of Amma to meet Amma and meditate with her. I sat alone in that hotel bedroom and peering down out the window at the scene five stories below. Hundreds of devotees circled around a beautiful fat women dressed in elegant Indian robes. Over a loudspeaker was a translated version of her speech.

Later, the group had gone elsewhere. I was alone in the bedroom with no crowd gathered under my window. A beatle stood still in the folds of the window curtain, and I thought to myself about bliss. "That pagentry and pomp is not the only way to God. That beatle is a beautiful manifestation of the divine universal source, and with it in this moment I will not the transcendently bliss of truth." And so it was.

Waste no time. Find joy and don't let go of it. Do this first and all else will follow.
