The Outtakes of 2010

And the pictures and memories remain from the dizzying blur that was 2010. You could say this is just a rehash of my 2009: 12 for 12, but in a lean blogging year, it's still an effort. Maybe there was a lot more to do, leaving less time to simply muse about it. Pardon the excuses of the lazy.

January. With this picture, and at the 'ripe' age of 26, I officially inducted myself as a third "wine-drinking" member of the family, after daddy and brother PB-slash-housemate Lex.

February. All bundled up in a hotel elevator in Shanghai, my quest to steal a shot of us two never ends.

March. Rensi, Joni and I at the MB-Habitat for Humanity Build in Cambodia. Oh, and the paisely hat tucked under my hardhat that did not have its shining moment on MBonline. Harhar.

April. Spotlight on Jamie Cullum at the Esplanade, me lurking in the shadows. But yes, we did meet, actually.

May. Venturing out on a Sunday afternoon at Spruce. Because I've always found the idea of having a slow meal out by myself, romantic and arty, here I was trying it out. And the book is incidentally the only one I finished for last year, if I got that right. Time to get literate.

June. In the (jazz) club. This year brought new genres of trance and classical, but I will always remain faithful to my first love. Here, a night out with friends, and on other occasions by my lonesome.

July. I'm the camwhore in this pairing, I know. Still, I can't help but smile when my repeated badgering for pictures results in something like this. This is indeed a month to celebrate. (Jody and I lunch at Au Jardin)

August. Rarely do Saturday sunrises see me sitting up. With Stephane Grappelli in the sonic scape, I am all set to slice the strawberries.

September. Patty and I out on Orchard, no Somerset actually, with a random girl behind. Just some sisterly bonding in September, from the streets of Manila to the land of Singapore. Sosyal!

October. I commissioned an artist to do this Pointillism portrait of me and Jeannie. Not. This is the result of no flash at twilight, while watching North by Nothwest at an Outdoor Cinema event. Later in the evening, we illuminated our lives (literally) at the Marina Bay Lightwalk. Can't remember how many kilometers we walked, but that's nothing for my 21K acquainted cousin-slash-housemate. Fun times.

November. Nothing can compare with the Christmas spirit in the Philippines, but somehow with Orchard road all lit-up, and the stirrings of consumerism--nah, let's call it generosity--in me, Singapore's holiday vibe gets me in that lovely mood. My reflection on one ornament of Ion's towering tree.

December. What felt like the entire under-30 population of Sinapore in full-swing revelry. When Love takes over at the Zoukout 2010. I'm a sucker for hearts, yes, for love and you know it. :)

You know how you have favorite photographs? Those you love revisiting, and would consider framing and displaying for all the world to see (or okay, at least posting on Facebook)? Sometimes, there are other overlooked shots that can also bring you back to a happy place and time.

In a year that was grand in scale, I welcomed the quieter, smaller moments. And like I read on some sagely restaurant menu, "The extremities in life keep me balanced."
