My husband's getting his MFA in Creative Writing and I went to a party hosted by one of his classmates on Saturday night and it had a similar vibe, except since they're art students you also end up with people comparing their tattoos (which are generally references to their favorite influences) and being down on their own work.
I always enjoy scoping out people's bookshelves. You can learn a lot about a person that way, plus it makes for good conversation when for once other people at the party have read them and you can have an actual conversation about it other than "I hear that's good," "Oh yeah, you should read it!"
I miss academia XD

I'm in PhD program in sociology, though we receive a MA along the way... which means that I am slaving away on the thesis and dreaming of the day when I can finish up and move on to the diss.

I'm hoping to start a Postgraduate degree in September and I'm buzzing with excitement. About everything and anything surrounding it! You're ahead of me by a mile..I might get there one day myself, but we shall wait and see.
