I Read the 7th book - SPOILERS

Okay, I finished reading book 7, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. :)

I gave in and went to a midnight release, then I stayed up all night and all day reading it. (I read so slow!) I started falling asleep with just 100 pages to go so I took a nap before continuing.

It was very action packed, and good. I don't really have any complaints.

I was a little scared when the locket Horcrux started to affect the kids when they wore it, fearing for any similarities to Lord of the Rings, but fortunately, it did not evolve beyond Ron storming off. :)

I was pleasantly surprised with the action. From the second chapter I started fearing for the character's lives. By the middle, I didn't care so much. I didn't think that the main ones would die off as much. I figured that Harry would die, especially as the book neared the ending, but it was amazing how it really ended up. I didn't really expect that, I thought that he was going to stay dead. I'm glad that we got a happy, alive ending though. :)

It seemed that a lot of the characters were involved, and I had the feeling that they, and everything, were popping up to say one last goodbye to the fans, or the series. I hope that for the 7th film, they get everyone who was in the first 6 ones to be in it. I kept picturing the ending credits with all the characters one by one having a personal scene, giving little sayings. Very nostalgic.

The Snape/Lily part almost made me sick. It was fandom to the extreme. I mean, we figured Snape had something for Lily, but to find out that they lived near each other before Hogwarts? That they were best friends at Hogwarts? Ick! Yeah, it was sweet, it probably would have been a pleasant shock except for the fact that I have been so unfortunate to meet that implausible fandom idea so many times online, mostly in poorly written forms. :( I'm sure I'll get over it. But hey! Maybe we'll get more step dad Snape stories! (And does this prove that I am the biggest Potions and Snitcher or what?)

Snape's good! Well I thought so. I was worried for a while, when he seemed so evil, when he didn't seem to help Harry, but I THOUGHT that he had been the one with the doe who left the sword! And I was right. :) It didn't seem like it could be anyone else. I am a little disappointed that he isn't really good though- he only did things for Lily's sake. And he never actually interacted with Harry. But maybe he evolved and changed, maybe there's more under him than what we briefly saw.

I must admit that I did have the small, wild, fleeting hope that Snape might actually meet up with Harry, and help him, as unlikely that that would be in canon. I would have been extremely happy. But I suppose that we got as good as we can possibly hope for.

And Harry named one of his kids after Snape?! Wow. It's like JKR was giving little waves to all her fans. We saw Harry/Hermione and Snape/Lily, maybe even a bit of slash with the Potter clones! I was a little shocked. :)

Umm... maybe a little. :)

It seems to be pretty calm though.

The Snape/Lily seems to be more for Snape/Lily fans, most Severitus fans just use them as a means to start a Snape and Harry Gen story. And Snape being good was nice because he was good, but he ultimately didn't care for Harry at all. :( He did everything for Lily. So it crushed that part of him we use so much, and Severitus fans will probably be using a fandom Snape that can actually care.

But maybe Snape's not really as blank and simple as he appears in the books. We have wiggle room. :)

I predict that some not-caring canon Snapes will pop up, with baby Harry in stories. It's a different Snape. Different is good.

What I have wanted, and might actually get now, is a Snape/Lily Potions and Snitches story. We've been oddly bereft of stories like that. Maybe it will be rectified. :)
