Context on the altar of censorship

Apr 23, 2009 15:52

I've been reading a lot of scholarly articles online lately, but I came across both these beauts today:

"circumstances" spelled "cir***stances".
"...emotional buttons hit by..." spelled "...emotional button* *** by..."

SERIOUSLY???

technology, reading, programs smart as the people writing 'em, censorship

Aaaaannnd... Context for the win!

I think it's weird that an article from a respected medical journal would have to go through that process anyway; it's not like they don't have *editors*! But I miss JSTOR.
