Oh, wow. That brings to mind (and I kind of wonder if it was inspired by) Donna Leon's Commissario Brunetti mysteries, where one of the side bits is that Commissario Brunetti and his wife have an ongoing contest about who can find the ugliest baby Jesus in all of Western Art.
