Churchill is a community in northern Manitoba, on Hudson's Bay, known as the polar bear capital of the world. That's because so many bears are attracted to its garbage dump! No reason anyone outside of Canada would know that.

It's way too far from Winnipeg for a quick trip, so the Zoo in Winnipeg is creating an arctic ecosystem that will have six polar bears by June of next year. Right now, one polar bear, Hudson - born in Toronto! And lots of researchers. Alas, the snow leopard cubs in a nearby display wouldn't come out of their den.

It turned out to be an excellent animation of what an ancient sea would have been like. The old exhibits were still there - they looked so plastic and static in comparison. The Manitoba Museum is well worth a visit - but the Hermetic Code tour of the Manitoba Legislature, with an amazing volunteer named Don, is the Must-See. I'll post more about it.
