I did my first shift of single coverage last night--which means, basically, running the show by myself without my "certified executive trainer" to back me up. It was crazy and, and one point, literally a disaster--complete with fire alarm, damaged merchandise, and what is whimsically called an "incident review report." One of the jobs I had was working for an inventory company. Most people quit in two hours. Seriously, they gave you your first raise at 100 hours.

Yeah, I've never seen anything like the turnover at this place. Either the executives have been there for years and love it, or they're brand new. There is virtually zero middle ground.

Finding some kittens eating snack mix (they ran away when they saw me).

Why did this make me laugh? I guess because in my imagination, I am personifying these kittens a bit too much. They even have thumbs and can talk ("Damn, this chex mix is pretty good, Earl...holy shit, here they come again! Scram!").

They'd even made some mixed drinks to go with the Chex Mix. It was a kitten cocktail party.
