- when you got offered a job teaching at a university, do you already have a degree back home or are you doing one at the moment?
I was just wondering coz my boyfriend (British) doesn't have a degree but he has a computer job in Bangkok. He is also interested in teaching English and computer in a university so just ask for information:)
by the way, I study at Mahidol University in Salaya too.

I do have a degree from home. I have a B.A. in Linguistics.
I am currently studying for my master's here..but will be returning home shortly do to conflicts (which you may have read some in this journal)
I was offered the position under special circumstances. 1. I know people in the English Department at that university and 2. They were trying to replace a teacher that they no longer wanted to teach there.
I was told that usually they would not offer the position to someone with less than a master's
There are certain *new* requirements for foreigners teaching in Thailand as well as loopholes to get around them. Your boyfriend could probably get a job based on the fact that he's British, but the pay may not be that good without a degree.
