Ah, dear Janella~ This has moved me so! This painting was one of my Mum's favorites! More faded looking than this, it hung next to her dresser for as long as I can remember. Today, I have a print of it hanging in my office! It's "companion," (a beginning of sorts) for me is this, called "Our Lady of The Fruits of The Earth" by Frank Cadogan Cowper. (The color red in Christian tradition often symbolizes life giving fire/ the presence of God/the Divine as well as suffering and the blood of martyrs.)
I don't mind at ALL! That's what it's all about--even if we don't have a dialogue about something, then at least a train of thought is established... you brought me something new in the realm of things you knew interested me! What could be more appropriate than that?
And speaking of prayer cards, you have given me the opportunity to share the strangest thing....one of those 'why don't I have my camera' moments....I stopped at a neighborhood mailbox today to post my bills, and at the foot of the mailbox was a baby's shoe with a prayer card in it. It was so magical, I didn't want to touch it or disturb it. I figured there would be no one I could tell how cool it was, but you opened the door!
YES! What a wonderful "why don't I have my camera" moment indeed! Although, I suspect that image is one that you'll carefully tuck away and carry with you-No physical photo needed, really! Thanks for sharing this with me, dear Jane... Pax et lux, mi amice!
