Glad I was able to talk to you on the phone so soon after the weekend, but still really depressed at not being there for all of this. Reading everyone's posts is going to short out my keyboard as I keep having to wipe tears off the desk. I went to my first local meeting here and I must say that SCAdians here are just as quirky as those at home. Apparently one of the pet peeves is a crown that insists that awards stay a total secret and thus many people miss dear friends getting awards. It seems that even the orders don't know sometimes as they give nominations to the crown who decides and then only the calligrapher actually knows right before the court. Seems odd, and I can see how that aggravates some people here. It is very important to be there for friends, as that is a main value of the award and the experience of the court. Anthony really didn't "get" why Laurel and I were both so excited by the news and then why I was upset to not be there. I had to explain how what happens in the SCA does not mean anything on a real

I had wish that you could have been there for all of this too. I miss you guys, and I was hoping that you would be able to get down for MartinMass to watch you pal being Knighted. I understand that you are not able to, but we can hope. At the meeting last night (Mathom Trove) they all send their love to both you and Laurel.
