Janet was sprawled on a chair, reading a book and avoiding unpacking her stuff over in B1. Also, avoiding dealing with anything. And wondering how long it would be before it looked reasonable to go back to 239/240 to move the espresso machine down here for the week.

After leaving Jack, Isabel continued wandering around the camp, checking out the cabins. She poked her head in the Pangolin Common Room and smiled when she saw Janet. "Hey stranger!"

"Hey!" Janet waved at Isabel. "In retrospect, going on vacation the week after everyone new arrives wasn't my wisest choice."

"Overwhelmed by all the newbies?" Isabel smiled. "There's a lot of them. I'm still meeting new students everyday. How was your trip anyway?"

"Somewhat overwhelmed, yes," said Janet, nodding. "The trip was lots of fun. I got a tan, at least, and a bunch of souvenirs that I still have to unpack and hand out to people."

Tempe wandered into the common room from B3, nose in a book, and plopped down in a rather squishy armchair across from Janet.

Unfortunately, she managed to sit right on top of something spiky. It could be a porcupine, it could be a hairbrush. Whatever it was, it hurt.

"Ow!"

"Careful there," said Janet, closing her book and marking the spot she was at. "What did you sit on?"

Tempe reached behind her, picked up the spiky thing and examined it.

"Hairbrush," Tempe replied, wincing. "Really, really pointy hairbrush."

"That looks more like a torture device than a hairbrush," said Janet, sitting up and leaning forward to examine it. "By the way, hi, I'm Janet Fraiser."

Z wandered into the common room, looking still half-asleep. "Morning, Pangolin people."

"Hey," said Janet. "By the way, I'm Janet Fraiser."

"Z Delgado. Nice to meet you. Are you new?"

[janet_fraiser]

"No, I'm one of the poor fools that started when the school opened last fall," said Janet. She held out her hand to shake. "I was on vacation last week. So your first name is Z as in 'Z-E-E,' the letter Z, or is it short for something?"

Bridge wanders into the Pangolin Common Room after stashing his stuff on his bunk.

"Hey, people!"

"Bridge! Hi there! Are you in this cabin, too?"

"Hey, Z! And yep, Side A Pangolin, that's me."

"We're neighbors! I'm on Side A, too."

Parker staggered out of her room late, late, late. Talking until nearly dawn at the Stickbug firepit kind of wiped her out for most of the day. "Hey. Coffee? Somewhere?"

"Morning, Parker," Elizabeth waved from Janet's lap. "No coffee here yet. We're going back to fetch the expresso machine this afternoon. There's a couple of cans of soda in my room. They have caffeine in at least..."

After retrieving her frappachino Parker's brain managed to catch up to this. "Thanks, Liz." Another huge yawn. "Up late. Chatting. Cam-Mollusc escaped again, played with him."

Yeah, the brain's not completely on-line yet.

Elizabeth snickered. "Do we need to make sure you're tucked up in bed early tonight then?"
