Elizabeth had no good ic reason for missing the game was completely involved on something on her laptop when Janet rushed in.

"Hey, hon," she said after a minute, glancing around. "You lost something?"

Liz's eyes flared bright gold as she laughed. "Oh, great," she said, sagging back against the door. Stupid weapons ban. "Not you too."

She was in the library, not the infirmary, but the walls were institutional gray and Janet could hear the slow, steady humming of the machines, and the quiet beeping of the heart monitors. She sat at the collections desk, checking books in, but looked up when the door opened and Liz came walking in.

"Hey," said Janet, greeting her with a soft smile. Liz took no notice of her, just swept by and started talking to Adam instead. Liz was leaning down on the counter, wearing a low-cut shirt, and flirting with Adam. She'd barely even given Adam a second glance before now.

Janet frowned, and walked over there, but Liz wouldn't even look at her. "Hey," she said again, more firmly this time. "Liz."

Liz's eyes flickered over, an impatient, angry look flashing through them before she glanced back at Adam, a brilliant smile breaking out on her face. She leaned over, put one hand on his forearm, and--

"You can't drag him out of here in the middle of the day," snapped Janet. "It's the library, and he's the librarian." And also something ( ... )

Elizabeth was immediately jolted awake and her grip automatically tightened on Janet. "Janet, sweetheart, it's a nightmare," she said, immediately assessing the situation. One hand worked it's way up into her hair, while the other soothingly rubbed Janet's back. "It's okay, honey, it's okay."

Janet froze before she could hurt Liz, then slowly kicked the blankets off. "Liz?" she asked, her voice shaky. "Just a nightmare?"
