A little home owner advice.

So we've had no luck with our dryers.  We've burned out the heating element on two of them in the five years we've been here.  This weekend Dan may have discovered why.
There's this vent that the dryer is hooked up to.  It flips open and steam comes out. 
But apparently although we've seen steam come out of it all winter, it could have been working ( Read more... )

At our old house, chris used pantyhose around the duct pipe to help keep out the dust bunnies (and make it easier to clean).

Many many many house fires are started in the laundry area. Now we know why! So glad you guys got it taken care of before it became a burning issue (pun intended *grin*).

Our dryers both vent to the basement. (Yes, we have two. Three, really, if you count the big old one that came with the house but isn't hooked up - one is the stackable we've got upstairs and the other was our wedding present from my folks way back when.) Means we don't have to worry about outside vents...and makes Ben's den nice and cozy when it's laundry day. *lol*
