Occasionally we have cranky or pissy customers. It's retail, people like to be mean to peons, whatever... I'm usually able to deal with people fairly and just ( Read more... )

Once, when I worked at Save-On right after high school, a customer brought a huge cart full of groceries through my express lane right at the pre-dinner peak, and I asked her to go to another lane since there were eight or nine people behind her, and she yelled at me, and my bitchy manager backed her up, and I cried. Not in front of them, but I definitely cried. I think that might have been the experience that made me swear off working for giant companies.

Yeah, actually my boss and co-worker Riley were right there. They had my back. Riley was pretty much ready to fight the guy and then afterwards he came and gave me a big hug. I'm pretty lucky that my boss is so awesome. If I got in shit for this, I would quit on the spot, so luckily that is not the case. There were a lot of female customers in the store too, that guy wasn't going to get away with being an aggressive prick over broccoli. I know that I could have handled the situation better but I had every right to react the way I did. It's all cool. I was a little anxious about coming to work but it's fine.
