Where in the UK do you say "give me a kiss" vs "give us a kiss"?

Thanks in advance

For once I can't help you! I don't have a clue.

My very unqualified guess would be that 'us' is more often used in the North, but guessing isn't good enough at an exam :-(

I think i'd agree with you. so call it an intelligent guess.

ok, I'll agree to intelligent (cause I need that right now ;-) but my guess is still unqualified since the amount of days I've spent on your island can be counted on my ten fingers and ten toes. Or, no, now that I think of it, 22 is a more correct figure :-)

Apparently in the North East, although it's so widespread now that they say it all over.

Thank you for responding!! I just keep seeing some woman from 'Emmerdale', standing in the mud outside of her barn, stretching her cardigan dressed arms out, when I read out loud; 'give us a kiss' haha

I still have your book on my bedside table but haven't had time to properly read it yet. Looks promising though, and I'll get back to you about how I liked it - if you're interested that is ;-)

Haha, now you've made me think of that, too!

Of course I'm interested in knowing what you think of the book! Be gentle, though! :P

No, just joking... I know the strengths and weaknesses of it (well, from my viewpoint, at least!), so I'd be very interested in knowing what someone else thinks. So, your honest opinion would be very appreciated :)

Here's a BIG kiss for you! To thank you for your very informative reply :-)

I very much like the way they talk up there, I've been to Newcastle twice now, and I spent a day with a family in Whitley Bay when I was ninteen. I'v always wondered if it is at all possible for me to adopt their accent. My English input comes from school who was teaching us RP, and then American English seems to leak in here and there, of course coming from media, telly and films. I try to watch as much bbc as possible *lol* jk

Better late than never is what can be said about this reply. Haven't been journalling in quite a while now. Better go tell everybody about Thailand and all...

See ya

and thanks again
