I attempted to amuse The Infant at dinner today with some peekaboo behind my napkin. She gave me first a faintly amused, then a tolerant, and then a merely pitying smile.

You wouldn't think a nine-month-old had the pitying smile down, but dang. She knows we try to entertain her. It's sweet of us, in our inept way.
