So I was getting my hair cut today and making small talk with the hairdresser, as you do. I like the place I go to and this hairdresser is a comic book fan and therefore more interesting to talk to than most of them. He gets the nerd mindset. I was telling him that this Christmas will see my longest stretch of days off work for the last two years, ( Read more... )

When Iain and I were in Paris working for Dark Age of Camelot, we had a group of players who volunteered to keep an eye on things from a player perspective as the GM couldn't be everywhere at one. One evening I got talking to one of them on MSN... he mentioned that his soon to be wife was sewing her wedding dress and I mentioned that I sewed a fair bit as well... the conversation got around to what did I sew... long story short, I mentioned England, LRP, LT then got it narrowed down to Lions faction and then Armengar... turns out my volunteer on my game server was Gordons brother...

love stuff like that...

That's crazy! The best thing about this is that I keep realising I'm one degree of separation away from microgirl because of several unconnected people, like my best friend since I was twelve who worked with her.

Oh my God, you go to Colm! Tiny, tiny world! He is so easy to talk to, although mostly we just slag each other and bitch about family and he says how he's going to kill all faggots etc etc. I point out that he's a raving queen and he goes "I know, I bloody hate them!" :D

Didn't know he was into comic books though.

But oh my God, that's so mad :D

He is exactly 5 years older than me to the day, you know :)

He did tell me yous had the same birthday, but not the exact gap between yous. And he told me how you used to go to his house to be minded when your mum was in work.

He's the best hairdresser I've ever had, hands down. I realised that the first time I went there and he actually listened to me attempt to describe what I wanted, and he then did it to my hair. That happens disappointingly infrequently with most hairdressers.

Hey, hey don't forget the awesomeness that is Orla! She can translate hand waving.

It's mostly been Colm who did my hair though, and he also translated my very vague requests.
