Things that I have been doing.

I had a very productive weekend. Rick and I got our deposit back from our old landlord, and we've bought a bed and a mattress and a guitar. We have enough left for a pair of boots for me and an airsoft gun for johnciall, so we're happy out ( Read more... )

Don't worry about it; I'm used to the vagaries of predictive text and knew exactly what you meant.

Feel free to drop me a line anytime you like on pot and/or rituals. It's a hard ol' balance - and I'm probably more like you in that I much prefer to know what I'm doing going into a ritual and having had time practice. Plot takes away a lot of that time making it that much more stressful. As has been said above, if you've had enough ritualling, then drop it. For all the good reasons above. You know you'll have the ic backup if anyone tries to pressure you :):) Otherwise I might have to come clean with Beren about what happened to Pei and do you think Arden could really say no when he comes pleading for her to never do a ritual again? :) As for less drastic ic reasons, Arden is still plenty young enough to retrain! Ancestral interference is always a good excuse. I've seen a few people now "sacrifice" their ritual ability in a last ritual they really wanted to see work. There's always a way out.
In the meantime, if you want help with ritual ideas or think seeing some of my old ones would help, just shout.

It's not so much the balance, though that is making it harder. It's more that I amn't any good at actually thinking of rituals, either in the sense of vague overall ideas (we should have a ritual involving X to do Y!) or in the more specific sense of thinking of somethign for the bodies in the circle to do and say. I may partly be paralysed by fear of getting it all wrong, but there's a limit to how many hours I'm willing to spend stressed to the verge of tears in an effort to get over that fear ( ... )

Many people have commented on the ritual thing so I'll just say "what they said."

Grimm is awesome though, if a tad freaky in places. But I really loved playing it, it was a huge amount of fun. Word of warning though, we had a party of players who mostly wanted to play older children who were on the edge of loosing their disbelief because they found it hard to cnoceptualise being a young child. You need at least one player willing to be young (I was 6) and bring the sense of wonder to the fairytale world or it doesn't work at all. Lots of fun though!

Thank you for the "what they said" and for the advice about Grimm.
