That's interesting, especially as Andrea Höst's Hunting has a very similar plot and some character tropes, but while she has some humor it fits the occasion. Of course her heroine, Ash, doesn't have a god to converse with in her head, actually she's fairly superpower free, she's just incredibly bright. She'd remind me more of Miles that way. The book suffers a bit from too many neologisms, but then it's one of her earliest unpublished novels newly rewritten.

I hadn't heard of this series (Hunting), so thanks for the heads up. Huh, it does sound similar: "random acts of derring-do", Huntsmen, her past. Hunting seems to have more of a revenge aspect to it though. I will have to check it out one day.
