Being anesthetized is a kind metaphor for dying.

Why tie this into holography? Because, in a sense, the Universe is a hologram. It has two sides, an inside (which we see subjectively when we're alive) and an outside (which we see objectively when we're dead and hence disembodied.)

The outside is a reflection of the inside, and vice-versa.
