Ditto on the recipe shower. My godmother threw me one of those and it was one of my favorites...plus it's just much more practical than something where you might get 4 cut glass crystal punch bowls or something (like Pete's parents) that you're never going to use.

Another thought could be an Around the House shower, where everyone gets assigned a room to bring a present for...my bridesmaids threw me one of those and it was great. Also I think Around the Clock showers are fun, where everybody gets a time of day. But my friends here told me they weren't creative enough to do that one. Oh well.

Tell Ave congrats for me! :) And good call on September. I hear it's a fine time for such things.

How about a this-is-not-a-normal-shower-where-all-you-get-is-kitchen-stuff? Yeah, that would be nice.

I always liked the Christmas ornament shower, but since that's not the right season, a "please decorate my bathroom" would be OK, too.

I've realized that if it weren't taboo, I'd register for shoes, purses, Apple gadgets and baseball tix. However, since that's apparently not what one does, I'm going to have to learn to get excited about flatware and plates.

And yes, I know I'm not supposed to be giving advice on this. And btw, why do I want a train again?

You want a train, so that I, Becca Stokes, can hide beneath and pop out, a la the Nutcracker.

I think it's totally acceptable to register for shoes. Since I have no plans on getting married, I plan on just registering for crap I want when I hit forty like Carrie did.

But really the point of this post is CONGRATS!
