I mean, honestly. Making 9/11, which happened, like, yesterday, into a star vehicle for Nick Cage? How completely tasteless is that? Turning a recent tragedy into a Hollywood tearjerker guaranteed to make bajillions?
You know, most of the time I feel like nothing is sacred or should be sacred, because it all deserves study and art and thought. But could someone just take the dollar signs out of their eyes for just a second?
And, I think you're right about the both the making us not pay attention and the reliving it in our heads thing. They keep trying to make us go back to that day emotionally so that we can all feel that level of certainty and powerful need for action that we had then. It's funny, but it's almost like the weeks after 9/11 were the glory days of this war, WWII-style. When it was easy to tell who the bad guys were and we were all sure we were just going to show up and kick their asses, lickety-split.
Argh. It's propaganda and I don't think it even knows that it's propaganda, which is all the more disgusting.
