She had a colonoscopy and they perforated her intestine in three places. She was rushed into surgery last night and made it through okay but is still on a ventilator and heavily sedated. My sister is trying to get in to see her now. She may have to have a colostomy bag which would pretty much kill her.

She's all the way in stupid North Carolina (I'm ( Read more... )

Thanks so much, my mom is so active and never sick so it's so out of left field.

I got a flight out tomorrow first thing, but it was about 3 times what I'd pay on Monday. Ah, it's only money, right?

I don't know how they did it. Supposedly it never happens. Well, they need to redefine never. Stupid fucking doctors.

I'm so sorry! Glad you got a flight, even though expensive. I'm sure she will be glad to have you there.

I'll be thinking of you and your family. Have a safe flight!

Thanks Snuze, it really does help knowing someone cares. I just need to see her ya know? She's still unconcious (they are keeping her that way) and she's not breathing on her own yet which is scary. They aren't sure what damage was done by all the yuck leaking into her body. Just trying to take it one step at a time as anything else is way too overwhelming.

Yeah, I know what you mean about needing to see her yourself. And they always say that even unconscious people know when their families and people who care are near. Just keep us posted when you get a chance. And we'll all be sending our most positive thoughts and prayers your way.

Thanks, she pulled through it, but it was touch and go there for a while. Very scary!
