The events were spaced out by months and years, and were all because I was an impossible child and no one had the faintest clue how to cope with that. The water was because I refused to move, and short of real violence to move me it was the best they could come up with... it also didn't work. Being tied was because I was prone to violence, and the idea was to restrain me so I couldn't hurt myself or them or do anything else stupid (in the case of the stool they did actually leave me alone in the house while they and I calmed down, and that was more than a touch irresponsible, I'll admit). The hitting was the result of temper, and shouldn't have happened and should have been punished, but it was NOT systemic or done with malice, it was just a person beyond his breaking point. The screaming was actually the most abusive out of all of that, because the words themselves were chosen to wound.

Something to look at in all this: Look at how often Obama (or Clinton) is called to task for something he (or she) has said and compare it to how often McCain has been.
I would not consider you being biased at all considering the virtual free pass McCain has been getting.
