Friday: For a couple weeks now I've been going to Friday happy hour at a bar around the corner called ... The Bar. I go by myself, drink beer, smoke cigarettes and wait for something interesting to happen. So, this time, my adventure involved several beers, some Shiraz, a wonderful home-cooked Japanese dinner prepared by complete strangers, some ( Read more... )

you'll get the most perfect job when the time comes. THe one you end up with will be the best - same goes for all the asses you are checking out over there too.

And I really want to eat at the garlic place. Was your breath killer after that? lol...

oh yeah, killer. Like I said, very extreme. The appetizer was garlic cloves in oil, cooked so that they were soft enough to smush onto buns, like butter. It was so good, but I ended up eating like THIRTY cloves of garlic, and that didn't include my entree.

your "top ten asses"... I love it!!

I'm glad to hear that Stinking Rose place is good. I've always wanted to check it out, but I always get distracted by something else (or just plain pulled in the door by one of those Italian people in North Beach).

What happens in Macondary Lane/Barbary Lane? I've never seen/read Tales of the City.. =/

Good luck with the continuing interviews. This is certainly much more a reflection of the tight job market than your own abilities.

Tales of the City by Armistad Maupin: He wrote six books about the lives and loves of the residents of an apartment building, "28 Barbary Lane," going from the mid 70's to the late 80's. Most of the stories were orginally serialized in the SF Croncicle. Really entertaining, quick reads. I think I read all six books in a month or two. Very soap opera-like, sort of a prototype for Melrose Place and those types of shows, only with the gay characters as the focus.

The first three books in the series have been made into mini-series. The first one, made for the BBC and broadcast here on PBS back in 1993 or so, was filmed entirely on location here in SF. The subsequent two were Showtime productions and were sadly filmed mostly in Canada.

That looks really good. Of course I'd make an alternative to butter and anchovy, but still. yum!
