MBTI and Favourite HP characters - another analysis

Aug 03, 2007 14:07

Here is another study with the MBTI / favourite HP character data, using an alternative method. I now study the relationships between character-liking and each separate dimension of the personality types. I think that some interesting observations can be made in addition to those already presented.

Some basic info about method:

Once again, great work. Are you going to post this at HPN? I'll bet there would be some interest in it.

Yep, I've had some preliminary talks with chiev about writing a little essay on the subject, to be posted at the HPN. Something with a bit more synthesis rather than just presenting the numbers.

Meanwhile, I'm still going to continue posting some raw material here, as I hope I can find some of the lost analysis on different characters' MBTIs in my computer archives.

And I think I'm going to post a link to here in the Rawenclaw personality type thread...

Good Merlin.

You sure know how to surprise one. Well done on putting this all together. You have made some very interesting points here. Would it help if I tried to see if I could get more results for you?

Other than that, I just feel a bit ... out of my category (you know why... lol).

Another question though. Are these 'favourite characters' selected at the similar point in time (i.e. after HBP)? The reason I am asking, is that opinion might change on charaters now that we have all the answers. (I am not trying to give you more work though. Purely an innocent question.)

Anyway, I am going to give this more thought. As per usual, you have made a very intersting post.

Wel, as I said above, if you need a hand putting doing anything, just shout. I am free.

Do you think (with regards to the latter posts more likely to have alterior favourite characters) might have something to do with fanfiction? I know that at one point there was a questionaire on LJ (I think it was a friending frenzy) and I know that at least one person put Adrian Pucey down as a fav. I think his name has been mentioned in a total of one sentence in the books... so there is obviously a lot of creation/inventiveness on the person's part. Anyway, you know where I am thinking on this topic.

Good job again!

The fan fiction is an excellen point! I had not thought about it in connection to the 'random' characters, but I did have an idea that it may have some influence, and so there's a quiestion related to that in the draft questionnaire...
