Auctions: How To Bid!

Mar 24, 2011 20:24

Hey all!

Please read carefully.

This is where we explain how to bid on your favorite entertainers. Bidding officially starts on Monday, March 28th.

We will make a post (or two if it's required) that will host the names of all the entertainers that have confirmed. In the post we will make an individual thread for each entertainer that has signed up and you will bid on the particular thread of the entertainer(s) of your choice.

Since a lot of you who are bidding may not be familiar with Livejournal or simply are not a member or do not have one, no problem! Because Livejournal provides you with five ways in which you can comment.

You can comment from:

1. Your own Livejournal
2. Twitter
3. Facebook
4. Anonymously
5. OpenID

- If commenting from Livejournal, Twitter, or Facebook, all you have to be is logged on and signed in to comment.

- If commenting anonymously please sign your name in the comments so we know who you are.
Note: We have IP addresses turned on so if you are commenting anonymously, we will be able to tell if you are the same person or not. We ask you to please not abuse the anon option and pretend to be someone else and take someone else's bid. Thank you.

-If commenting from an OpenID, please read information on this site: OpenID Foundation
Note: We are not exactly sure how OpenID works as we are not familiar with it, so it's been left out in the following visual with the mock bids. But if you are comfortable with using that option, feel free!

The following is a mock bid visual example on how the threads for each individual entertainer and bids will look like.

How To Bid. Please click me!

-You are allowed to bid on more than one person if you choose.
-All bids will start at $5 USD minimum.
-Bids must be raised by at least $1 USD per bid. (Bids were raised by $5 USD in the mock example screencap but that's just an example).
-If bidding internationally, you do not have to donate in U.S. currency, but when you comment with your bid please convert your currency into U.S. Dollars so people know how to bid next.
-Please don't edit/change or delete your bid, if you've made a mistake and come across a problem, please comment on this post explaining what happened, or contact one of us moderators using our contact info on the sidebar or profile.
-Please remember when bidding to reply to the original thread ("Reply to This"), NOT as a reply to the bidder before you.

♠ The auction will last for about a week. As of right now the bidding will end on Monday, April 4th at 11:59 PM EST.

♠ After the auction is over, we will ask the winning bidder for each entertainer to provide us with their information and contact so we can give the entertainer in question your name and proof of your donation. So please keep coming back and checking the progress of the auction so you don't miss any notifications if you happen to be the winning bidder.

♠ To provide proof of your donation, we will ask you to make a screencap of the receipt you receive from the charity you donate to that is helping out Japan. All we need is your name and proof of the amount of your donation as well as the charity you donate to. We do not need your full name, so if you feel uncomfortable showing that or any other personal details, feel free to white out those parts to protect your privacy. If you are not sure on how to make a screencap, please forward your receipt to either me or Tanya in an email and we will do it for you. Emails: Tanya and Moey.

♠ Last but not least, please remember to read OUR DISCLAIMER post, which is very important.

Thank you so much for all your enthusiasm, help, and time! We're still constantly blown away at how all of this is coming together. If you have any questions on the bidding or anything else discussed in this post, feel free to ask in a comment!
