Even when Hashimoto was young, he dreamed of becoming a college professor. As he got older, his dream was short lived. None of the colleges would hire him, so finally he turned towards a high school, where he was hired. He often talks jokingly of his job saying it is an opportunity to "mold young minds", but it's not his dream job.
As a teacher, Hashimoto is very strict and will often forget he is teaching high schoolers. Sometimes his test will consist of impossible to solve problems that he views as "common sense". If he hears a student complain about his teaching, or anything in general, he will send them out of his class. Sometimes he ends up sending 3-4 students out in one class period.
Over the years, Hashimoto has come to dislike kids, especially those full of bullshit. He will often get in the face of those who offend him, even if they had merely asked a simple question. Then there's homework. If a student doesn't do the homework he assigned, he takes it as disrespect, and punished them severely. Sometimes he goes back to old punishments, such as holding a big bucket of water in the hallway for an extended period of time.
In short, Hashimoto is one of the most disliked teachers of Gakuin High. There are times though when the students catch him in a good mood, and he tells them amusing jokes that are irrelevant to class.
