Yesterday is a weird blur. I don't really remember what I did. I'm okay with that.

Today! Went with horty_pie to see Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters and Hot Fuzz. A few quick words:

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters is exactly what you would expect, provided you expect an episode of the show that's about 90 ( Read more... )

ATHF: for some reason, the "Hey it's like a David Cronenberg film in here" just KILLED me. I laughed hysterically...I don't know why, maybe it was the way the comment captured so perfectly the absurd violence of the cartoon, to which the characters are seemingly too well adjusted, thereby making it fucking HILARIOUS when one of them stands back and says, "Hey, it's like a David Cronenberg film in here!"

That was definitely a standout line. I wish there had been more of that sort of thing, little digs at the sheer absurdity of the series. I also wish the Mooninites had more to do, but oh well. It was still really, really damned funny.

I'm trying to imagine what it's like for crusty old film critics who have never heard of the series going in to see this movie. I'm surprised a couple of them haven't just literally died in their seats.

I'm not really in zombie movies, so I haven't seen Shaun of the Dead, but I've seen lots of cop movies, so I'm thinking Hot Fuzz will be a good one to see. I don't know if I'll make it to the theater, but I'd like to check it out.

What she said! I know a lot of people who aren't into horror films in general who love Shaun of the Dead. It's really funny and the characters are really well fleshed-out (no zombie puns intended). It stands up very well after repeated viewings, too-- I've probably seen it over a dozen times, it's easily one of my favorites Of All Time.

That opening sequence is going to be legendary. It should literally be played in front of any and all R-rated movies forever.

One of my friends said that Hot Fuzz was so bad she wanted to walk out. I'm not sure I buy that. A lot of people just don't have the same sense of humor as I have.

Masterpiece Theatre and Mystery! on PBS are the best. Gillian Anderson is f-ing hot too. Netflix for sure.

I can only assume your friend does not like movies that are good. And that's fine, a lot of people don't.

Once I realized Bleak House was 10 hours long, I decided it must go in the Netflix queue. The chances I'll be around the house five Sunday evenings in a row to catch all of it are slim to none. Gillian Anderson is excellent! I did not doubt it, but it's nice to see it for myself.
