Ooh! I like China/England too! BUT I PREFER CHINA ON THE BOTTOM

I'm rather fond of Heracles/Kiku (Greece/Japan), even though I think it's a very random and has little-to-no historical backing at all. (Look at the cats! Tell me you don't like them with a straight face!), and it's a personal joy when fanfic authors actually address their relationship in-relation with Yao.

As for Yao, I think... after reading a certain reverse-harem!fic, I could see him with anyone. But, it's my total guilty pleasure to ship him with Ludwig and Gilbert.

...haha... I know I'm really weird in terms of pairing choice. But I still like Japan/China! A lot! :D

LOL; I, too, adore England/China. Greece/Japan is a little iffy for me, if only because I'm a little bit preoccupied with going "WTF" about them. But then again, I'm not really "for" England/Japan either - and they've got quite the bit of history going for them! xD;;

No worries; I have weird/guilty pairing choices too, as I'm all too happy to share~

I don't like Giripan. There, straight face.

It just makes me think of lazy Greece and really awkward Japan, and then I'm like....que?

I like Greece and Turkey better HAHA!!

Kecen, I totally agree with you on this one: "Yao is the source of a lot of unconditional love" - and I'm sure Kiku would simultaneously love this part of Yao (because it's why Yao has actually decided to forgive him for the past century of tension/violence) and hate it (because it's why Yao is so close to so many other members of the UN as well).

Pimping/Womanizer Kiku; now this I would like to see. *mixed feelings of excitement and revulsion* xD;;

*is seconding the idea for pimping/womanizer Kiku, on the condition that Taiwan gets to be even more winsome in this theoretical fanwork*

Wait... why is Kiku not allowed to have sex in certain buildings/places/cities in China?! *totally shocked by this* xD (It is a serious question though!)

Mmmm... I guess in terms of sexyfuntimes, I think that both Kiku and Yao (being Asian, and being centuries/millenia old) are supremely old-fashioned, not only in terms of sex, but with courtships as well. I would love to see some "getting to know you again" post-1970's fic as a result of this. Neither of them seem like the type to delve head-first into a relationship, particularly if they have so much tragedy and emotional/historical "baggage" (putting it lightly) to take with them.

UNLESS THERE'S ALCOHOL INVOLVEDBut! If - and this is, of course, a big if - they managed to get rid of their problems and become the ordinary happy/loving/sweet-and-snuggly couple that I can't actually see them ever becoming (convince me otherwise with winsome fanfic! *hinthint*), I guess they would have sex whenever they found the time (in between UN meetings and whatnot). I'm also willing to bet ( ... )

And now you've got me scrawling/trawling through the pixiv boards/postings looking for drunk!Yao and sober!Kiku. DD:

(Closest thing I've found so far was Yao pretending to be asleep, which hardly counts...)

The whole idea about Kiku causing trouble on business trips is this:

And btw, Iris Chang is our champion. Just saying.

Uh... Yeah. There's the whole WWII thing, and on top of that, both of these countries have problems with the birthrate (ie: China has too many males and Japan just isn't getting enough births), so homosexuality would be looked down upon (amongst other political reasons), simply for the fact that it was encouraging the population to NOT procreate (which, I suppose, would be more acceptable in China with the One Child Policy...? *TOTALLY UNEDUCATED GUESS*)

But that's part of the appeal for me, I suppose. I mean, yes, it's a little bit annoying, and the shallow (insensitive, and easily angered) part of me just wants the two hot guys to STFU about their Unresolved Sexual Tension and, you know, fuck *shot*, but I think that it is a problem that should be dealt with (as much as I love/adore AU's) because, well, their history makes up a good facet of their personality.

End verdict? Yeah, I don't think that it would be very accepted (cue family members and friends laughing me out of any function I would ever dare mention this pairing in) ( ... )

EDIT: 9) Do you view their relationship as forbidden in any way? Do you think that there would be public disapproval from either country if they were a couple?

I think this is the most controversial pairing that exists for Yao! (laughs) Though I think Chinese are quite soft-hearted really. When Japanese settlers were repatriated from China after WWII, a lot of Japanese orphans were left behind especially in the northeast. They were taken in and raised by Chinese peasants which I find quite amazing. Imagine that a neighboring country has been occupying, torturing and killing your people for years and after the war, you find a child of the enemy lying on the roadside. Would you take it home and raise it when you have trouble feeding your own kids? I’m not sure I would be able to do it.

Other thoughts: getting involved in hetalia has taught me so much. The more I learn about Yao, the more I learn about myself. It’s quite surprising actually. There were lots of things that I thought were individual or family idiosyncrasies that I didn’t realized were actually Chinese because living overseas makes it confusing to tell what is Chinese and what is not. I had “eureka” moments when I realized that’s why I or my family did xyz. It’s quite amazing that my parents were born overseas but the cultural dna is still there and working (in both good and bad ways ( ... )

I like Rome/Yao too mainly because of that Pixiv fanartist.

My mother lost mine somewhere, she's rather ditzy and we moved a lot when I was young. I also had this black bangle thing (unknown material) that was for some "spiritual protection" purpose but I don't know what that was about.I think my mother got it from some temple that blessed it.

Anyone knows?
