[ NING XIA / video & explanation / PG-13 / insinuating positions ]

Dec 28, 2009 15:52

So this is one-third of my trade with acquiesceme--she's going to draw a comic and I'm going to make three videos.  This one is the Chinese video, with Yao and Kiku, BUT OF COURSE.  Anyways, I actually don't know Chinese (because, like, I'm Japanese...eheh) so I went through baidu to find the non-pinyin-ed lyrics and then fed THAT through google ( Read more... )

Again, you're just so win at making these sort of videos, especially with the total lack of Japan/China that's available.

Um... thank you for being 1/3 done, whereas I'm only 1/5? And sorry that my comic won't be as good as the video?

*watches again~*

Aww... I love it when people lay on the praise really thick!

And don't worry, your comic is already better than the video, because, well, you actually drew all of your pictures?

Oh shoot--I totally forgot in my haste to get the Chinese all in there properly. I'll post it down here, because otherwise, it'll look cluttered...

Yes--because the first change was nice, until I saw the comment pages--that really really really bugged me.

THE EXPLANATION dreamsofdest1ny December 29 2009, 00:21:40 UTC
So this is sorta-kinda-maybe based off of Half A Millenium, but it's pretty much more of Yao and Kiku's very much messed-up relationship. When it's Yao think-singing in this song, the picture are always so "aww" and childish, whereas Kiku is obviously thinking more on the romantic side of things.

Through this contrast in my choice of video pictures, I hoped to properly elaborate, through pictures (not mine, by the way!), how differently the two nations viewed one another. Of course, there is love, but I believe in C.S. Lewis and his thought of there being "four loves"--in which case, Yao and Kiku don't share the same love in this particular video.

As for later videos... we'll see... ^^;;

*sigh*

Only you can actually pay that much attention to the small details and pull it off so amazingly! But that means... I have to rewatch for a third time to catch all of those moments...!

...Are you going to have a hate-love video, because I would love to have a hate-love video as part of deal/trade... (?/.) er, yeah.

A love-hate vid would be great to follow this up, actually. Though the "I like you, but not like that" feeling of this video makes for some sort of sad irony, I think?

Wow~

Although the translations are pretty awful, you somehow managed to retain the whole idea of the thing, despite your lack of knowledge and dependence on google!translator, so kudos, seriously.

The actual video was pretty cool, I'm looking for your interpretation however...?

Yay! I'm so glad and relieved about the translations, because Google!Translator was really literal, although I suppose that's because the Asian languages have had only about 4000+ years to develop a ton of nuances and whatnot. But anyways, yay for keeping the meaning and losing the words, right?

The only thing that I'm really not looking forward to are the Chinese fans, because I have all of no idea as to what they're saying, which means that I cannot reply at all and I just feel lame and stupid as a result... >
