Info hereThe concept, and the names involved, are making me really excited. It just seems like the people that used to run LJ are making an improved version of the LJ that Brad used to run... which is something I think we could all get behind ( Read more... )

Thanks for the heads up. I subscribed to the mailing lists. This looks like something I want to keep an eye on.

Hmmm... So it is yet another journaling service? I... well. Put a bunch of people together and it will not be much different from LJ, really. I have had my LJ for five years. I doubt I would leave. But hey! Good on them! And with a little competition, it might be good for LJ to, who knows?

Well... yes and no. The people behind it are the same people (for the most part) that were behind LJ 6/7 years ago. You know, when there were no adverts, strikethroughs, etc and reading between the lines (and really not having to look too far) that's what they want to recreate with Dreamwidth.

I've never been able to fully get behind the LJ alternative's because I've never felt that they really encompassed what for me is at the core of it's success. But this? This could do it. This could be LJ pre sell out with its core values intact.

I'd pay for that and be gone in a millisecond.

I'd miss you. As I am sure most of your friends would.

Because thats just it. I am here for the people. The friends I have made. And that is why I won't leave. Sorry, Jape. I just can't leave everything I have here. It is ALOT. And I think there are more that feel that way to.

Which is why LJ won't collapse fandom wise until the dribs and drabs that are leaving/have left reach a critical mass. At that point fandom will move really quickly to the new thing just like they did when they left Mailing Lists*.

*Which whilst some are still there really aren't as active as they were back int he day.
