Pricing up a server for a customer on the Dell website, and I was greeted with this:
In work, we buy pre-made 3m CAT5 cables in bulk. It's actually cheaper than paying someone to sit and make them all day long. They cost us 0.80p each. Compare that to Dell's price.
That girls and boys is a 2500% markup right there. Probably more, as I'm sure Dell can afford to buy in such bulk that it costs them pennies per cable. How can they possibly justify that sort of pricing?
The sad thing is, is that people out there somewhere are PAYING those prices.
