Dear Members of Jardin du Ciel,

You have all noticed, in the last couple of weeks, the upstir. For the newer members, you may only now be confronted with it, for which we are sorry.

Said upstir started with our headmod, Tsu, leaving due to severe personal problems, after which the game was left in the remaining mods' hands. However, seeing as our headmod was the one with most of the ideas concerning future plot events, we decided to keep him on as a behind-the-scenes writer for our game. This did not work out, in the end, and due to problems between Tsu and one of the other mods, Otter, we considered excluding Tsu from the game completely. However, one of the mods had talked to Tsu later and figured out that excluding him may not be optimal-- sadly, no one had had the chance to inform Otter about this, and she put up the post.

Not only the timing, but also the manner of the post were less than fortunate; she regretfully opted to do it in an unthoughtful and undiplomatic way. She hurt a lot of feelings in the process, even though that's not what she intended to do, and we believe that in the way she did it, our reputation has been permantently soiled. After a severe discussion yesterday, Otter decided that she could only hurt the game further, and left. Several members of our small game have also left because of the whole debacle and others are not sure if they would like to keep playing. As such, our game is left with a too-small playerbase, a lack of a good plot, only one or two (formerly) co-mods, and a bad reputation.

After Otter left yesterday, Lieke and Tsu, who is of course still tied into the game since he created it, talked about what would be best for the players right now. Between us, it was agreed that it would be better to shut the game down, seeing how the game was on the brink of terrible failure, and the players would get hurt in the process of dragging it on without enough resources to keep it going.

Of course, we did not want to shut anything down without discussing the situation with the players who had not been involved in any of the personal problems. We could not do it at any other point of the day, and we are very sorry if you were not there to join in on the discussion at that time.
In any case, it was generally agreed upon that it would be a great shame to see the game going, but that it would probably never been like it was anyway.

Because of this, we have decided to permanently shut Jardin down. We
would not want to leave you like that, however, and we would like to
offer you an alternative:

LOST PARADIGM, located at lostparadigm, is a multi-fandom RP based on the anime series BIG O. The setting provides most of the themes and story elements that were present in Jardin, but with a larger and more flexible environment that provides more freedom for play. In addition, most of the creative team behind Jardin is working it and they promise an even tighter and more rewarding system than the one in this game.

As an apology to all of you, members of Jardin du Ciel don't have to fill out the application for LOST PARADIGM. Simply provide a link to your Jardin application and fill out the parts unique to the game and you'll be accepted.

It's been a great ride, you guys. We're very sorry the end had to come like this, but in the long run it's better to do it now before it dies a slow death. We'd like to thank each and every one of you for participating and making an idea come to life. We're immensely grateful to all of you.

Thank you, and we hope to see you again.
