It hadn't gone the way Tenshi had planned it. She had tried to be there in advance, to prepare a suitable welcome for the other duelist - a proper fight needed the proper tension and intro, after all, and that was hard to do when one was late ( ... )

Franziska had watched her opponent walk into the arena, carrying a large rock she'd no doubt picked up in the forest. Well, all children have to amuse themselves with something; the simpletons choose rocks.

She smiles sharply at Tenshi's words, the drama of them oddly befitting the situation, and then coughs in disgust at the gesture. It sends dust fluttering her way and she wipes her skirt clean of it with distaste.

"Tenshi Hinanai--- I am not here to punish anyone. I am here to duel, and to win, that is all that matters. I do not care for your misdeeds," she says pointedly, and at that point she takes up a dueling stance, elegant and deadly.

"Wha-?" Tenshi gasped in surprise. "You-you aren't? Oh..."

She quickly caught herself though, and grinned, noticing that Franziska seemed to be as ready asd Tenshi felt herself.
"Oh, you still only got that half right. You're here to duel - but not to win, but to face an utterly crushing defeat!"

With that, she pulled out her sword, and pointed it at Franziska, ready to charge into what she hoped would be an exciting battle. "Have at you!"

The fool's words didn't touch Franziska in the slightest, and all she does is let out a slight, lady-like guffaw.

As soon as Tenshi moves into battle stance Franziska charges, moving her sword from an almost vertical position into a horizontal one, creating a downward slash as she quickly runs forward. She finds that her heels don't bother her at all while running-- in fact, she seems to go faster than usual.

Whoever had designed this arena definitely loved their drama.

From the curious forest itself, to the gate that opened to the rose signet ring and the waterfall that sprang to life behind her, to the circular staircase that just seemed to keep going up and up and upThe arena itself, however, even awed her a little. It wasn't the place itself, which, while ornate, wasn't all that out of the ordinary. It was the upside-down castle that spun placidly overhead. She couldn't even begin to imagine why it was there, or what was suspending it, and yet there it was all the same ( ... )
