Hmmm. Do they have an "official" differentiation between Androgyny and Genderqueering?
Strangely enough, if you read the statistics, the most virulent advocates of male emotional and interactive disempowerment are women, not men. A large percentage of our nation's women are seriously threatened by the notion that men might become emotionally self-sufficient and form bonds with other men instead of remaining dependent upon women for all their emotional (and spiritual) needs.
I think of androgyny as staying out of the gender fray, and not taking a side (which may or may not include acknowledging that there are more than two "sides"). I think of genderqueer as actively taking what works for you from any/all gender categories and smooshing them into your own unique expression.
Women, you say? Interesting, hypocritical, and a tad sadly ironic. I wonder how male/female relationships would change if men were able to become emotionally self-sufficient and able to freely form the deep bonds with men?
