I've always thought the whole problem was over the word "marriage" - its a religious term. Drop that word - and I think most of the fervor will subside. If a couple really wants to get "married" by a church, they'll have to find one that will accept them.

Most of the protesting is indeed on religious grounds. I wish that religion and life weren't so very intertwined, you know?

But then again I don't, because I'm planning my Samhain to revolve around letting go of life issues... Hypocrite, thy name is j.

You are not a hypocrit. And I know you well enough to believe that you want religion and life to be intertwined.

It would be nice if religious institutions (like marriage) were not made a part of government. That's all. :)
