Tom meanwhile, had given up trying to not humiliate himself and was busy getting sick over the ship's railings. He was desperately hoping no one would notice him.

Richard did notice him, and hesitated awkwardly for a moment before deciding to approach the other man. "I say...is there anything I can do for you, sir?"

Tom half turned. "I'm fine, sir, I just need to--" He turned around to lean back over the railing again.

Richard winced a bit, trying not to let the other man's sickness adversely affect him. "I... I expect it will be better, in a short while. We're bound to hit calmer seas as we get out on open water." There was no logic to this statement whatsoever, but Richard felt like he should say something reassuring.
