Hello, Livejournal. It's been a while, yeah? Yeah. I've kinda been dispersing everything to Twitter, which isn't exactly the best possible outlet for my more rambly thoughts and general life updates.

One of the things the book mentions is that currently there is no process for freshly diagnosing ADD in adults, you need to have a prior diagnosis of ADD in your childhood to get diagnosed with Adult ADHD.

I have some factors which are so ADHD it hurts, but others actually kinda fly entirely contrary. I can easily sink an entire day into video games or movies without moving from one spot, but they have to be high energy fast paced games/movies. Slower stuff will kill me pretty quick.

When I was first diagnosed with ADD however many years ago, I too started off with Ritalin (well, Concerta, same drug). Also found that it didn't do much for me. If Ritalin's not to your liking, maybe try something stronger, like dextroamphetamine or adderall? Both are very powerful stimulants, much moreso than methylphenidate (ritalin), and you'll certainly feel the effects. I've been taking amphetamines (legally) for a good decade now and I don't know what I'd do without them ( ... )

The book that I've found very helpful is ADD-Friendly Ways to Organize Your Life, by Kolberg and Nadeau. Since the problems you're talking about sound pretty familiar to me, this book might be worth taking a look at, especially if your library has it (that's where I first read it). I'll have to look around for the book you mention.
