Sometimes I really wonder if the End Times are actually upon us. Maybe this is just the beginning, no idea. I just can't fathom how this can be happening in this day and age. It's just a tragedy that's still playing out, as if in slow motion.

I got my vaccines as soon as I could, around May. I could have gotten them sooner, but felt guilt for being young - even though I have underlying conditions, arthritis being one of them.

Anyway, take care Jarrell. All we can do is help ourselves and to an extent our friends and family. And after that we can only pray for the world.

If I were still a Christian, I would totally believe we were within the Tribulation Period right now.

It's interesting you put Trump in that crowd, because I can actually remember when the biggest con artist in history turned into a vaccine pitch man for Big Pharma, pumped billions of dollars into the drug companies' pockets to rush them to market, then strong-armed the FDA to bypass the formal approval process and fast-track them into production in time for the election, in what everybody at the time could see was an obvious cynical ploy to buy votes from the frightened masses.

It's also interesting to me how not too long ago, everyone was disparagingly calling them "Trump's vaccines" and refusing to ever trust them, but now that he's no longer in office, even though not a single atom in the shots has changed, those exact same people are in almost orgasmic adoration of them and downright evangelical in insisting that everybody else take them, too. Their quasi-religious conversion into the vaccine equivalent of Jehovah's Witnesses is really something to see, because I strongly suspect that if Trump were still president now and it was ( ... )

There are still so many bizarre stories and propaganda out there about the illness and the vaccines. "The vaccine rewrites your DNA so you're no longer human" was one I saw on Nextdoor.com a few weeks ago. What nonsense. I have trouble thinking of people who can believe things like that as being fully functional adults.

"I had it and it wasn't that serious" is something I read a lot as well. But I know two people (as in, I personally knew them) who have died from it. I know someone else who is turning out to be a "long hauler" who used to work out and was into lifting weights and bodybuilding...now he says he doesn't have the endurance he used to have, even 5 months after recovering, and he's worried he'll never get it back.

I've been lucky to have not caught it. And I hope if I do have one of the "breakthrough infections", which seems likely because my job is going to start putting me into a small room with 20 other people next week, that the vaccine will do its thing and keep my case from being too bad.

I hope you remain safe. Yes, there is solid evidence that being fully vaccinated practically prevents long Covid if there is a breakthrough. So far we've been fine and I want to keep it that way of course. It didn't have to be this bad if more people would have just been responsible and not been caught up in the conspiracies and disinformation.
