Hooray, a pre-VividCon release! \o/ I'm long overdue for a comedy vid, my my. So, here you go. From the twisted brain that brought you "Maneater," I give you, well, this. Enjoy.

So, first of all, if you have watched the vid and are kind of "..." or o.O at what you have seen, perhaps you are unfamiliar with the infamous series of commercials for Geico car insurance here in the US! (That's okay, we can still be friends.) You can watch my favorite one here to acquire context, or this one; you will see they all use the song from the vid. There are...seven different commercials that I know of? Or at least that I could find on YouTube and have seen on tv. They are good times.
I had the idea for this vid about a year or so ago, but I admit I never thought I'd actually make it. It was my cracky little vid bunny that would certainly be too intimidating to actually bring to fruition. (Too much source! I don't know how to mask! I have no time! YouTube footage is crap! I am full of excuses!) All the same, I clung to it desperately (while praying nobody else made it first), because, come on! Sam and Dean would SO hunt this thing! It is CLEARLY a demon! And Dean would be all freaked out and Sam would just laugh at him! IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE. I told my friends about the concept and they humored me and patted me on the head, heh. In the end, my desire to see this vid won out over the fear of what tech might be involved.
Once I got into it, it wasn't nearly as challenging as I thought it would be, thanks to some very helpful friends and my decision to stick to just seasons 1 and 2. It did end up taking more time than I suspected, though, on account of countless hours lost in vain attempts to do more complicated (and now abandoned) track mattes /o\. (Nobody bows before my tech prowess, but that is nothing new.) Still, the final product far surpasses what I had loosely pictured in my head all those months, which is a win! You see, I didn't remember anything about the early seasons of SPN, so every clip was a joyous new discovery! I kept finding new, exciting things I just HAD to mask! The poster on the wall! The message on the phone! Perfectly usable shots in a diner and on a plane and in a library just like in the commercials! These scenes were MADE FOR MY VID! (Well, I will pretend they are. SPN seems like one of the most widely vidded fandoms, so it feels impossible to use clips not in most vids, but I tried?) I think I ended up with 9 different masks and footage from six of the commercials, which was a lot more than I had planned. Hell, I was even able to fit a NARRATIVE in there! Who knew!
