Backing up your data might help your peace of mind.

Also: as to statue care, i have never seen a religous statue in a church that wasn't a little dusty just as i have never seen a a budda that was. Perhaps the problem is less the dust as it is the inattention that caused it to build up in the first place.

But that's the point. I don't know what sort of attention it needs. I know that seeing it dusty seemed wrong, but dusting it when I don't generally dust anything else doesn't strike me as moderatly reverant behavior either. A little too attentive.
Some minority factions do clean statues as a form of devotion, and devotion doesn't sit right with me.
I guess it's a thought paradox, my mind has conflicting needs.
On one hand I feel like a dusty statue of a meditating buddha is a fotting metaphor for my inadaquacies in mental practice, while cleaning it regularly feels like fanatacism.
Perhaps I should focus on how it's only a metaphor.
