I understand the first notion completely. Still trying to decide if it's something I should do anyway or not. Completely torn and not sure what to do. Meh.
As to the second, we don't have carpet over here, so I get fur tumbleweeds that roll across the tile if I don't vaccuum everyday. I keep expecting a gunslinging catcowboy to challenge me to a shootout.
I was feeling the same way yesterday. It does help when certain persons, who are lovely and wonderful in many other respects, have this thing where they don't really watch their kids whenever they're out with us. Apparently, one's kids are supposed to be entirely self-sufficient and pretty much ignored when one's adult friends are present. Even if they are annoying the ever living crap out of one's adult friends. :|
Umm... just a few things I've observed over the past year and a half or so. ;)
I hear you! I never want to have kids either. I'm an aunt already, and it's nice to get away from my nephew after a long day, lol. I love the peace around here...
I did get pretty burned out teaching preschool classes...but I love teaching kids one-on-one.
I think it is different when they're your own--the bond is stronger. But I'm sure you still have to take enough time off to take care of yourself, so you're not always frazzled when you're dealing with them!
I wouldn't let only one bad experience taint your view. I'm pretty sure I still want a baby, although an experience with one of my cousins last year (he *exploded* pea-green poop) had me seriously reconsidering...
