Jason ran to the third floor landing. He took the stairs two at a time, careful of his untied shoelaces. Arriving at the trick stair he began his experimentation by putting his foot on it lightly and pulling it off. The stair definately gave under his weight. She stopped skipping as Jason came into her view. He seemed to be experimenting with...a yo-yo. Not quite what she had imagined, but it seemed to be effective none the less.

Turning towards Mia he grinned broadly. His hair was scruffy as usual and he quickly brushed it away from his face.
Stone stairs never creaked even in an old castle and Jason made a mental note to remember that.
"Hey, Mia!" Waving slightly he called her over. She was ok for a girl, maybe he could finally figure this step out. Concentrating on the stair again he attempted to wedge his fingers between the stair and the wall.
"I think the mechanism must be in the wall." he explained, looking around for something long, flat, and thin.

Mia quickly took a hair band off her wrist and quickly tied her hair into a ponytail. Hey, she needed to be able to concentrate without her hair getting in her way! They had a mission after all!
"Hey." She'd already said 'hey' once, but, nothing wrong with saying it again. Especially now that her presence was known.
She nodded. "Yeah, makes sense."

"The trick is that we need to slide something between the stair and the wall to see if it catches on anything." He answered logically, unusual for Jason.
