Mia and anyone else

Jason ran to the third floor landing.  He took the stairs two at a time, careful of his untied shoelaces.  Arriving at the trick stair he began his experimentation by putting his foot on it lightly and pulling it off.  The stair definately gave under his weight.  Digging through his pockets he pulled a yo-yo out of one cavernous cargo pocket.  His ( Read more... )

Mia skipped silently toward the stairs, heading there to meet Jason. Their goal? To find out what it was exactly that made the trick stair near the third floor landing tick. Mia was curious about it, that much was sure, and hey, who was she to pass up an opertunity like this?

She stopped skipping as Jason came into her view. He seemed to be experimenting with...a yo-yo. Not quite what she had imagined, but it seemed to be effective none the less.

"Hey, Jason!"

Slightly startled by the suddent noise, Jason quickly covered his reaction. He did a quick over the falls with his yo-yo as though that had been the reason he pulled it up in the first place.

Turning towards Mia he grinned broadly. His hair was scruffy as usual and he quickly brushed it away from his face.

Stone stairs never creaked even in an old castle and Jason made a mental note to remember that.

"Hey, Mia!" Waving slightly he called her over. She was ok for a girl, maybe he could finally figure this step out. Concentrating on the stair again he attempted to wedge his fingers between the stair and the wall.

"I think the mechanism must be in the wall." he explained, looking around for something long, flat, and thin.

Mia giggled slightly at Jason's surprised reaction. Maybe she shouldn't have snuck up so quietly. Next time she would be loud coming down the corridor and make sure that he knew she was coming.

Mia quickly took a hair band off her wrist and quickly tied her hair into a ponytail. Hey, she needed to be able to concentrate without her hair getting in her way! They had a mission after all!

"Hey." She'd already said 'hey' once, but, nothing wrong with saying it again. Especially now that her presence was known.

She nodded. "Yeah, makes sense."

Feeling the need to look important, Jason straightened his shoulders a bit and assumed a tiny bit deeper voice. He had heard his mother do the same thing when they were shopping for a car and it always seemed to work. His sister did it when she saw a cute guy but it had a very different effect there.

"The trick is that we need to slide something between the stair and the wall to see if it catches on anything." He answered logically, unusual for Jason.
