Apple owed up to it's end of the bargain and sent me a $70 check yesterday, FedEx! Whoo-hoo! That, plus my regular unemployment check, will get me an extra value meal

But Macs are still about twice as expensive as a PC, still don't have a wide range of software (been to Micro Center lately?), and have this cooler-than-thou brand image that, although it once attracted me, makes me want to pull the hair out of my nose without the aid of tweezers.
There are several articles out there like these (I just pulled these outta my ass). All I was saying was that if Mom had an eMac I'd have been done in 3 hours, tops, instead of 18 (no shit). Besides, I was commenting that she needed something that didn't run Windows code in case she clicked on some popup that most of us non web-savvy people know not to click on, it wouldn't do anything.
I say it's worth a couple of extra bucks to be able to run my machine for about 10 years AND to live in a world without spam or popups, wouldn't you? I mean, come on! When you have to clean all of this bullshit off of your PC or redo it every once in a while, is it really cheaper then? How much is YOUR time worth?
I set up the software section of the new Apple Store. I KNOW how much and WHAT software is out there. Besides... who said anything about paying for software? Just what in the hell software are you using that's so specialized that you can't find a version or something similar for the Mac?

And fuck that whole "cooler-than-thou" image. I just know what works, and what makes sense - and that's not battling bullshit spyware constantly.
Preaching to the converted... I fell in love with my little pre-power mac Performa and the relationship is still going strong with my G4... now if only I could afford OSX...
What G4 do you have? A Sawtooth, Gigabit, Digital Audio, Quicksilver, Quicksilver 2002 or Mirror Drive Door?
What OS are you running now?

The "collective" here includes several vintage Macs as well as modern ones. From a slot-loading iMac to a beige G3 tower, and from a PowerBook G3 & G4 to a Blue & White G3. Over 10 in all! I'm about as hardcore as you can get - I even have a 6' tall Apple logo sign in front of a 19" server rack with most of my communications wired to it.

The last iMac is only out of style by two weeks. Refurbs and old stock is still available at dramatically reduced prices. They'll even finance... and we all know how much we folks with babies on the way need to be digging ourselves deeper in debt. :)
Granted, it is a bit more up front, but you'll still be using it 10 years from now. Can you do that with a PC (still running a current OS)?
Hollie and I haven't figured out a poker night date yet. We haven't had much time to ourselves lately, let alone together. Last night we finally got to watch one of the 3 movies left I rented on Sunday, and the phone rang all through it so it was paused many times - and it was The Butterfly Effect! I really enjoyed it, but the unborn baby strangling itself at the end was a big stretch in my opinion.

There were a shit load of people there.
I have to admit. I want all the shiny white and crome boxes, but They were too pricy... Maybe Once I win that Powerball...
I don't like the new Imac though... Looks like it's cheaply made... And it doesn't have that neat adjustable neck like the last one did.

But FYI, here's one that was used at the MacMall booth as a demo at Macworld San Fransisco:
